The Lance Missile

The Lance is a surface-to-surface, single-stage, liquid-fuel guided missile. First deployed with the United States Army in June, 1972, the Lance has been subsequently ordered by the armed forces of Great Britain, the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium and Isreal. The Lance was the first Army missile to use pre-packaged hypergolic propellants which ignite spontaneously on contact and carries either a conventional or nuclear warhead. It had a self-propelled launcher and could operate in all types of weather. Like all other modern U.S. Army combat missiles, the Lance underwent testing at White Sands Missile Range.
