Here is a cover that is signed as certified as flown in the nose
of the replica Bumper 8 at the Official 50th Anniversary
Ceremony held at Cape Canaveral FL on July 24, 2000. The
launch took place from launch complex three at CC. Many
of the early space pioneers were present that day and observed
the launch of the rocket. There were 100 of these made and
flown. They were recovered from the nose of the rocket in
perfect condition. Each cover is numbered and signed by the
builder of the rocket. This is number 25. The cachet on the
cover shows the original Bumper 8 launch that occurred on
July 24, 1950. It was the first successful launch at the Cape.
The envelope is a high quality 25% rag envelope with a gumless
flap and carries the 50th Ann. logo and the 50th Anniversary
commemorative cancellation.
