Estes - D-Region Tomahawk 29mm motor mount

The Estes D-Region Tomahawk Kit is a 1/5 scale model rocket! Scaled after a one of a kind sounding
rocket launched only once in 1968 by NASA to take measurements of the D-layer of the ionosphere
(thus it's name), this scale model captures all the detail of the original. Standing nearly 39 inches
tall, this easy to build rocket includes parts having the scale detailing added to them for fantastic
realism. And finishing the model is simple following the simple painting guide in the instructions
and easy to apply water transfer decals. The results will be truly a masterpiece for any scale rocket
builder whether new or a pro.

This modified D-Region Tomahawk launches on E through H engines to heights well over a mile!

Booster section.
Note the addition of conformal rail guides and Kevlar shock cord.

Booster close-up.
Note the 29mm Aeropack motor retainer.

Nose cone assembly.
The forward part of the nose cone is filled with expanding foam from PML.

Break down of nose cone.
Electronics are mounted to G10 board and upper half of nosecone is taped in place.
I used a piece of 38mm motor tube for the altimeter housing and some wraps of masking tape to create a snug fit.

Note the dowel rods on the inside of nose cone to allow for retension of the G10 board. Also note the 3/32"
vent hole in the red section. There are three of these equally placed around the nose cone section.

The next motor to fly is the brand new Aerotech LMS G78-10G/L Mojave Green 29mm SU motor.
This motor was sent to me by Aerotech as a replacement for a bad G80 and should be a nice motor to fly.
This motor is also from the first batch that Aerotech has produced. Not in stores yet.
