V-2 photos on file at NASM

This is a detailed list of the photos available from the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum
(NASM) on the A4/V-2 Rocket. I have just broken them into the sections that the Smithsonian
had them in. All of their pictures are on one laser disk. The way the numbering system works is
that it first tells what laser disk and what side the image is one. Then it has an opening title page
and any subsequent numbers are pictures. For Example: (7B 33093-33110) is on disk 7, side B
and has a title page numbered 7B 33093 and has 17 pictures numbered 7B 33094 through
7B 33110. If you want photos, they're not cheap. Each photo costs a minimum of $15.00 for an
8" X 10" and depending on your use can cost upwards of $40.00. If you have any questions please
contact the Smithsonian at (202) 357-3133. One possible coming collection is the Herb Desind
Collection. Herb was an individual that passed away in 1993? and collected almost every photo of
every rocket ever conceived. After his death the collection was donated to the Smithsonian. This
collection consists of 84 file boxes of information and probably won't be cataloged until some time
in the future. I visit Washington D.C. about every two years so I'll keep all that are interested
informed.

USAF Pre-1954 Official Still Photography Collection
This collection was originally at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum but was
moved to the National Archieves a few years back. To get reprints call
(301) 713-6625 x 234. You need to purchase these through independent
contractors so the cost is a little more than what you would pay through NASM.

The Frank Winter Collection is from an individual that works at the Smithsonian and has collected
a bunch of rocket photos and basically just put them in a lot of three ring binders which are labeled
Book 1, Book 2, etc. The books that I've listed are the ones that contain V-2 photos.

As you can see there are a great deal of photos so if you want a particular photo I hope this helps
you out in locating it.
